Slovenian archeological remains rarely get featured in tourist offer even though they are worth a visit and studied by many experts.
Several archeological sites are scattered just south of Maribor, along the archeological settlement axe along Radvanje, Betnava, Bohova, Hoče, and Slivnica. In prehistoric times, these areas near the foothills of the Pohorje Mountain Massif were densely populated and the mountains offered them protection. During Ancient Roman times, the fertile area along the Roman road was populated as well, showcasing the strength of Roman colonization in the Drava Valley.
The archeological path will connect all important archeological sites, such as Villa rustica in Radvanje, Poštela, barrows in Pivola and the Hoče crypt. These and several other historical sites will include info boards, booklets, and guided tours will also be offered.
