The double lower city gate in the medieval defense wall is located on Mohorjev klanec, the local name for Vodopivčeva ulica Street, below the Rosary Church. The two towers of the lower city gate can be clearly seen on the Marijan depiction of Kranj from 1649. Although the wall lost its defensive function and was poorly maintained, one gate tower survived into the 18th century, as a picture of the city from the middle of that century testifies.
