Kranj is a town with rich cultural, historic and natural features. Some of these features are the tunnels under the old part of Kranj – an old city shelter, constructed during the Second World War. In 1300 metres of restored tunnels, an exhibition is set up presenting the Kranj underground; moreover, an exhibition of minerals and fossils as well as the reconstruction of a Second World War shelter and simulation of an attack are to be seen. On the way, one can also admire real stalagmites and cave animals. Interesting events are also organised in the tunnels throughout the year: for November, a Wine Trail and exhibition of Advent wreaths are being organised as well as a Christmas crèche in December. Children can visit the Land of the Kranček Dwarf or attend Halloween night.

The tunnels under old Kranj received the Sejalec award in 2009, whereby the committee emphasized that, for the development of tourism, the restoration of heritage areas is not enough; namely, modern contents organised in such a heritage area are extremely relevant.
