The picturesque church of the Rečica stream valley takes us to the church of beatified A. M. Slomšek, the work of Plečnik's assistant Janez Valentinčič. This house of God was constructed in 1939. Despite the altar not being partly completed, the church was consecrated to Slomšek's patron saint Anton Puščavnik (Anthony the eremite) and also in Anton Martin Slomšek's honour in the year 2000. The statue of Slomšek has been given a venerable position next to the high altar. The interior of the church reminds its visitors to the church in Bogojina, however the exterior is an interesting and variegated combination of different kinds of stones, breaks and concrete elements. The bell-tower is flat roofed and is reminiscent to the church of Santissimi Apostoli in Venice. The bell tower balconies covered by concrete domes to orientate the voice of ringing towards the valley are of course he biggest curiosity of the church. A masterpiece of art worth seeing indeed!
