The former Carthusian and now parish church of St Mavricij in Mišji dol in the valley of the Gračnica is standing on the territory once in the possession of the provincial lordship. Henrik, the bishop of Krško, established the monastery of the Carthusian monks in about 1170, but it was soon dissolved. The monastery, however, was renewed in 1209 by Leopold VI of Babenberg, the famous provincial duke of Styria, who reconstructed the monastery and its church which is the only part of the former vast monastery complex that managed to preserve up to these days. In 1595, the monastery was abandoned for the second time, although the medieval walls and its tower of defence in the extreme south-east part have been saved.
