Since 1965, the parish administrator at Kapela fought for teaching religious education in Radenci. Since all the requests were for the church in Radenci in vain, Bishop Dr. Maximilian Držečnik, founded a parish located in Radenci; Decree of 25 January 1977.

Name of the Radenci Parish:

Parish administrators were Vinko Sraka (1912-1966), Francis Levstek (1926) and Ignac Lebar (1912-1980). First they taught religious education in the chapel in the park Radenci. Inhabitants of the surrounding area are mostly wanted that the new church in Radenci should be "St. Marys." The new church should be named after Mary, the Mother of God. Bishop Držečnik insisted on behalf the St. Cyril and Methodius. That the name was correct, because according to the Code of Canon Law, every blessed church has to have their patron saint. At the village church tower l. 1959 he built a chapel the St. Eljas. Cyril and Methodius.

Already in the sixties, the priest Vinko Sraka of Kapela has decided that he saw the need for liturgical space in Radenci, but unfortunately in l. 1966 in Hrastje Mota he was ran over by a train.
