Measures taken to ameliorate, regulate and prevent flooding almost half a century ago on the Pesnica river created several water bodies, which soon became wellknown for their fishing. The lakes are between 28 and 44 hectares in size and are a few kilometres one from another. They are inhabited by cyprinids. The main fish species are, alongside tench, naturally carp, which reach record sizes here. It is not unusual to catch carp weighing 15 or 20 kilograms and more. In addition, several record catches of pike and wels are recorded every year.
