This typical dish from the town of Idrija is a seasoned thick hot pot made of kale or radicchio, cabbage and potatoes. It can be served on its own or as a side dish with meat and roasts. The name of the dish comes from the Slovenian verb “smukati” (meaning “to trim off”), since outer cabbage leaves are literally trimmed off.
