Volčji Potok arboretum is the most frequented horticultural amenity in Slovenia. Established in 1952, the institution took over the estate owned by the Souvan family until 1948. The former private owners had bought the property in 1882 and established extensive parks around the mansion house. The baroque style mansion building was destroyed in 1944.
Arboretum manages the park, maintains its plant collection, produces plants in its own nurseries, runs a garden centre and does practical landscaping all over Slovenia.
Over the last few years Arboretum Volčji Potok has become famous for its spring flower shows. Visitors from all parts of the country and from abroad come here to be fascinated by millions of daffodils, tulips and other spring flowers.
Opening hours every day 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. (summer until 8 p.m.).
