The trip starts in »Hotavlje«, following the signposts of the Mountaineering club Škofja Loka, pass the church of St. Laurence, and a shorter part of the path leads along an asphalted road (leading further to the top), to signpost directing us left to a marked footpath. Strenuous locals from Hotavlje have set two benches by the path for visitors to relax and enjoy a beautiful view on the lower bench. It takes us about an hour to get to the Alpine hut on »Slajka« where we can relax again and when the hut is open, we can enjoy delicious food and drinks. The largest visit is no doubt on the last Sunday in May, the day of the traditional event in »Slajka«, called The Day of May Blossoms.

The path then continues along the Loška Mountaineering Trail over the top of the »Špik« mountain or around - over the »Homovec« farm – both paths then soon join and there is a beautiful view over the other side, the crest of »Žirovski vrh«. We get to a macadam road leading uphill in direction of the starting point, pass the »Homovec«. A bit lower, at the crossing of the road Hotavlje - Slajka there is the »Loška Mountaineering Trail on the right, leading back to the church in »Hotavlje«.

If you would like to continue the trip to »Ermanovec«, you should not descend in direction of »Homovec« but go along a macadam road to »Sleme« and then along an asphalted road to the top of the crest. There is only a few-minute walk to the hut.

When returning to »Hotavlje« you can choose among various paths but we suggest the one that leads over the »Vrhovcov grič« to »Trebija«: you have to get back to the small chapel and then go along a cart track road over the slope. Signpost will then direct you through forests, meadows and pass some houses (a short part of the path is along the road »Trebija«-»Stara Oselica«). When you come to »Trebija« you can wait for a bus or try to hitchhike, but the »healthiest« way is to go on foot along the upper road to »Podgora«. It is a short way to »Hotavlje«, however it is the most dangerous part since we are on a regional road where drivers very rarely drive slowly and cautiously.
