 The palace got its present Baroque appearance with the joining of three buildings in the 18th century.
The palace is known for an interesting atrium, staircase and numerous floor and wall paintings. The exterior of the palace is decorated with the relief of the Venetian Lion from the Lion Castle fort, which used to protect the city’s only connection with the mainland.
