Advices for safe sunbathing In the summer tourists as well as the locals too often forget about safe sunbathing. Sunburns are frequently the consequence of exposure to the sun because of everyday activities and lying on the beach for too long. Generally it is safe to sunbathe before 11 in the morning and after 4 in the afternoon, but when temperatures are extreme it is only safe before 10 in the morning and after 5 in the afternoon. Bear in mind that the body loses liquid, so drink as much as possible. Protect the skin with a high factor suncream; adults should use at least factor 20, children at least factor 30. The quality of suncreams, which have to be clinically tested, is important. Sun rays can damage also eyes, which is why it is advisable to protect them with sun glasses that offer 100% protection against UV rays. The best protection is to avoid strong and direct light.
