Ema's route of pilgrimage

Ema's Route of Pilgrimage connects the places that are associated with St. Ema's life. Ema reigned with her husband William II. of Friesach-Zeltschach in the land from Frilly to Upper Styria and Lower Carniola. Despite her tragic loss of her husband and her sons and other severe challenges she had not lost her faith, on the contrary she dedicated her life to the poor and established many parishes. She founded Benedictine monastery in Admont and a monastery for Benedictine nuns in Gurk in Carinthia, where she withdrew to form public life. The monastery was abolished in 1072 and its property given to the newly founded diocese in Gurk. St. Ema is buried in the crypt of the cathedral in Gurk. The route leads throught Carinthia, Styria, Lower Carniola and Upper Styria and is connected with the route in Austria. The Ema's Route in Škofja Loka area leads: - Poljanska valley: Žiri, church of the Three kings, St. Ana church on Ledinica, St. Tilen church - Škofja Loka: informacion office where do you get information about Ema's Route, map of Pilgrimage and Pilgrim booklet and stamp - Crngrob: Lady Day Church - Železniki: The church of Blessed virgin in Suša - Sorica: church of St. Nicholas
