Near the village of Podvinci, not far from Ptuj, one can find two ponds named »Pacinje« and »Tičnica«. The ponds have existed for at least 200 years. Exceptionally diverse flora and fauna have developed through years on the ponds and in the surrounding forest, which makes this area one of the most important natural habitats in Slovenia. The ponds have earned the title of European Important Conservation Area – Natura 2000.
