Planica, the picturesque, U shaped,
glacier-made Alpine valley stretches for about 7 kilometres in a north-south direction. Undulated grounds are covered by a web of glacial moraines and the scree brought down from the surrounding mountains by torrents. The bottom section of the valley is intertwined with patches of woodland and meadows, and in certain places distinctive humped grasslands. The upper section of the valley is mainly covered with forests.
