The Slovenian Cinematheque is a museum association in the field of cinematography in Ljubljana. It was founded in the year 1996 with the division of the Slovenian Theatre and Film Museum (SGFM) into separate theatre and film parts; the formation of the present cinematheque started in 1994. In it the cinematographic and museum activities are linked; among its tasks are designing, keeping and presenting the collection of world films and museum items from the history of cinematography and executing research and expert publicist activities in the fields of film history and cinematography. The cinematheque includes archives, a museum, and programme-presentational and research-publishing departments.
