Lendava Castle was first mentioned in documents dating back to 1192, but the structure we are familiar with today was created in the 18th Century.
Since 1973, the Castle has been home to the Gallery-Museum of Lendava, which collects, preserves, studies and promotes the cultural heritage of the Lendava Municipality and the Hungarians from Pomurje.
The museum collection boasts a permanent archaeological, historical and ethnological exhibition, as well as a memorial room for the most famous sculptor of Lendava, György Zala.
The art heritage of Lendava artists is preserved in the institute’s gallery collection, which features a collection of artwork that has emerged from this traditional international artistic community.
