The City Art Museum of Ljubljana operates in four locations: its central building at Mestni trg 5, its permanent collection premises at Cankarjevo nabrežje 11/I, the Bežigrad Gallery 1 at Dunajska 31, and the Bežigrad Gallery 2 at Vodovodna 3.
The City Art Museum of Ljubljana provides a public service with exhibitions of modern and contemporary visual art at home and abroad. It has the status of a national regional museum of fine arts. The gallery's activities comprise staging its own and travelling solo and group (retrospective and study) exhibitions of Slovenian and foreign artists, not only of European, but of broader cultural areas. A special exhibition programme is dedicated to occasional tours abroad, for the most part on a reciprocal basis or else organized upon invitation from foreign museums and galleries. The City Art Museum promotes the visual arts by producing publications and material with pictures and sound. It publishes books, magazines, periodicals, brochures, leaflets, and first and foremost, exhibition catalogues. In addition, the gallery issues photographic prints, graphic prints, postcards, posters and CDs. It also organizes and performs seminars, lectures, art workshops, fairs and cultural events compatible with its main activities.
