Among all towns in Slovenia, which used to be home to the Romans, Ajdovščina has managed to preserve an almost intact Roman fortress with fourteen towers. Around 270, the Romans started building a fortified military camp, which was a part of the defence system at the easteren boundaries of the Empire. The Romans left in Ajdovščina even more interesting traces. Go for an unforgetable stroll into the remote past of Ajdovščina. The path takes you around the fortress and through a number of small squeres, a former tower forum. Remnants of old Roman baths are located in the southeren part of the old city centre - today`s market.
