Just in front of the entrance to the Laško mansion courtyard, our attention shall be attracted by the renewed building once serving the local people as a borough granary and wine cellar. Its former rooms have been restored for the purpose of a museum which presents the historical development of the town since the old times till nowadays. Laško shall revive in picture, word and numerous exhibits in front of the visitor's eyes to teach him about the times of the Celts passing these places by and the Romans having bath in the warm thermal water springs; about the years when Primož Trubar used to preach in neighbouring churches; the time of Turkish invasions and the great fire which completely destroyed the town, and until the golden age of the southern railway and quick progress of beer-brewing industry and of spa tourism. A rich geological collection invites visitors to admire several million-year old plant and animal fossils and the revision of coal-mining, which was already an important branch of the area economy not so many years ago.
