
This monumental site, built to commemorate the citizens of Novo mesto and the national heroes of Dolenjska, died in World War II, is situated at the crossroads between the Rozmanova street and the Prešeren Square, on the spot of the former "Ljubljana" city entrance. The commemorative site is composed of a loggia with the busts of Boris Kidrič, Franc Rozman and Franc Potočar-Lazar, as well as with two bronze statues, i.e. "The Song of Freedom" and "The Hostage". The site has been designed by the architect Marjan Mušič, and the sculptures created by the sculptors Jakob Savinšek and Janez Pirnat.; the monument was built in 1953.
