The scent of home will take you from Kamnik to a small village called Zgornje Palovče; where at the beginning of the settlement stands the Budnar house. Today we can only seldom step into a house with a black kitchen with open fireplace, farmhouse parlour or a living room with maple table and the traditional small house altar in the dining corner, and a warm oven waiting for us - here you can feel a part of our simple heritage.

Budnar's Museum House has been standing here over 350 years and now belongs to Kamnik municipality.
Its authenticity is monitored by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Kranj, and its caretaker is the Tourist Society Kamn'k.

Lively in good company
Throughout the year, numerous events, workshops and exhibitions with diverse topics take place in Budnar's house. We invite you to join us and test your skills in making dough figures, branch bundles, greeting cards, egg painting, you can visit the creche (nativity scene model) or together with your youngest wait for the visit of Saint Nicholas.

It will be our pleasure to show you around the house, to introduce you the life up here as it was 100 and more years ago and the history of the house itself. All culinary enthusiasts are invated to a delicacy afternoon and the tasting of real homemade Slovene culinary delights. 
How to find us?
Traveling from Ljubljana direction (Kamnik bypass) take a right- turn at the first big crossroads (direction Stari grad - Old castle). Follow a winding road above the town and continue past the turning for Stari grad - Old castle. After 5 km you will reach the village Zgornje Palovče, where you will see Budnar house on your right.
