The old farm houses also exhibit the black kitchens in which some fresh bread can still be baked as well as the dishes and tools used by the latest householders are exposed to the visitor's look. The black kitchen was stone masoned and arched, and pathed by bricks and stone tiles. In front of the stove fireplace, there was also a hearth and a kettle hung above it to prepare food. No chimneys were built until the 19th century and the smoke from the fireplace and stove used to raise towards the arch where meat was hung up to get dried, and turned the kichen black as the result. Many objects connected with cooking and baking have been preserved, f.i. fire-tongs, oven-peels, blowers and a whisk. Bowls, plates and mugs were kept in the "sklednik", a wooden rack hung on the wall while the "Žličnik", a special pot, stored spoons and forks. A very well preserved black kitchen is possible to be visited at the Romihs' home in Trobni Dol and the Aškercs' one in Senožeti (Figure).
