This is one of Slovenia’s most unusual bicycle trails.
Take your bike on the
Kanin gondola, and get off at the second stop at the altitude of about
900 m.
The descent begins on a dirt road with magnificent views of the entire
Bovec Valley.
Where the asphalt begins, turn right and descend about a
1 km to the
Plužna Reservoir, below which is the
Virje Waterfall.
After another kilometer of interesting riding down the pipeline to the
Plužna power plant, you reach
Oaza miru (“Oasis of Peace”), a popular
golfing center of the northern
Primorska region.
Follow the main road to
Boka Waterfall, the most powerful in the
Soča region, then cross the bridge and continue upriver to the pleasant little village of
Čezsoča.
Here you will find two inns in the village and the icy water of the
Soča River for cooling your feet.
From here it is only a
1 km uphill to
Bovec for a slightly more difficult finish to an otherwise easy
17-km ride.
