The cylindrical sacral building with a gently sloping conical roof stands in the heart of the medieval city, compressed and almost hidden among later extensions. The characteristics of a Romanesque or even later style are revealed in the construction of the exterior stone mantle. Rare and shallow buttresses have been added.
The Rotunda of St. Elijah is one of the oldest sacral buildings preserved in Slovenia. Its constructional structure has not yet been researched in detail.
