A bus takes you along the River Krka valley to Soteska. This is followed by a tour of what remains of the former manor of Soteska and Hudičev turn (Devil’s Tower), where you can enjoy the special legend told in extraordinary acoustics, accompanied by pleasant musical interludes. The tour continues through Dolenjske Toplice and Črnomelj, which boasts a fascinating old town centre, to Pusti Gradec, where we can look around a single-blade sawmill and the Klepec Mill, where they still grind flour in the old way (and you can buy some). From here we will walk along part of the Regional Theme Trail through the Lahinja Nature Park to the village of Veliki Nerajec, which gained special recognition in the competition for the European Prize for Rural Development and Village Renewal 2000. Along the way we will also encounter a real Zupančič child, a cicibanček, who will tell us his woes. The local people of Veliki Nerajec will receive us with a Bela krajina rolled povitica cake, then they will show us a 200 year-old house and shop with local products. For the afternoon we recommend two options: a visit to Metlika Castle, where you can tour the Bela krajina Museum and see a film about Bela krajina, or a tour of the biggest cultural monument and pilgrimage trail in Bela krajina – Three Parishes (Tri fare) in Rosalnice and wine tasting at an acclaimed wine maker. The tour ends with a fine Bela krajina dinner at a tourist farm.
