The Kayak Centre on the Soča River in Solkan is a new national Centre for kayaking. It is situated in the direct vicinity of a world-class whitewater kayak slalom course and the premises of the Soške Elektrarne Kayak Club near the hydro power plant. The Soča River is a venue for important national and international competitions.

The Soške Elektrarne Kayak Club has a long tradition in Solkan. There are almost 80 kayakers, from the youngest to junior and C-1 competition category members who train regularly. The Club can boast of having excellent sportsmen.

Once a year, the Soške elektrarne Kayak Club and Šilec Kayak Club organize a traditional Soča rowing regatta – a race down the river Soča by kayaks, canoes and rafts starting from the Solkan hydro power plant to Podgora in Italy. The race is not of a competitive nature, and recreational kayak enthusiasts usually participate.
