Eurobasket 2013

The most important basketball competition, held every two years in Europe, will take place in Slovenia for the first time. Teams from 24 European countries will fight for the European title between 4 and 22 September 2013. In September, when the weather in Slovenia is still warm and dry, you can join the sightseeing of numerous attractions with a visit to one of the top-level basketball games. The hosts of the championship that will take place in Ljubljana, Celje, Koper and Jesenice, promise an excellent atmosphere during the games as well as an abundance of associated events and activities before and after the basketball games.

Select your starting point

With regard to the town where your team will play its games in the preliminary stage of the championship, you can select your accommodation and visits in its surroundings. Do not forget: even though your team will play in Gorenjska, regions such as Savinjska, the Coast or South-east Slovenia can easily be visited from there in one day. However, since a high number of visitors is expected, it is recommended that you book your accommodation in advance. Elimination games

Moreover, it is especially recommended that you arrange your accommodation if you intend to visit the second part of the championship, when 12 teams, subdivided into two groups, will compete to qualify. These games and all elimination games will take place after 11 September in the Stožice hall in Ljubljana, which can hold almost 12,500 visitors. Lively cheering and full stands are expected at every game, where safety will be among the highest priorities. These measures also include the ban of alcohol selling and bringing alcoholic drinks to the basketball games. However, after an exciting game you'll be able to bring the party to numerous bars in the Slovenian capital.
