Paved Path from Jereka to Koprivnik

Print Add to travel planner
In the 18th century, this paved path was built to allow the uninterrupted delivery of iron ore and charcoal from the Pokljuka mountains to Bohinj. The grooves worn into the stone by the wagons are still visible today.

The path begins beside the bridge in the village or Jereka (615 m) and climbs to Koprivnik just below the Vodnik overlook (1,017 m). The walk takes about an hour and fifteen minutes.

Because the vehicle road to Soteska was only completed in the 17th century, goods such as wheat, oil, and salt were previously transported to Bohinj over Gorjuše from the Bled side and over the Bača saddle from the Primorska side. The ancient route from north to south probably ran here as well.
