The church stands by the Bovec campsite.

It was erected in the 16th century.

With its external features, typical windows and ribbed vault in the presbytery, it belongs to the late Gothic period.

The interior was painted in 1520 to 1540 by Jernej from Loka.

During World War I the church suffered massive damage and its external appearance has partly been altered, while in the interior the frescoes on the left side of the triumphal arch have been preserved.
