Nevlje ranks among the oldest settlements in the Kamnik region. The Parish Church of Sv. Jurij was the original seat of the earliest Kamnik parish. In 1938, the skeleton of a mammoth was discovered during the construction of the bridge. It is now on display in the Museum of Natural Science in Ljubljana.
