Development association Merišče has 76 members. Although our association is still young, it was founded on 18th of March in 2005, we have already taken part in some events and charity actions. Twice we have participated with our own cart on Festivity of teran and prosciutto (Praznik terana in pršuta), where we once got the first prize. We have also participated in Carnival in Opčine. We helped farmers from Črni Vrh and gave them few bales of hay which they needed. We arranged some walking trails and renewed over hundred years old village pool, which offers pleasant cooling in summer days. Our village also takes pride in other things: village spring, more than 300 years old vine on which were once supposedly (by oral tradition) tied horses of Napoleon’s army, church of St. Andrej, which is situated next to the inn in the beginning of the village and other interesting Karstic architecture.
