Zenkovci is a linear village at the foot of the Goričko hill region, immediately below Bodonski Breg along the regional Murska Sobota-Grad road. The village is 12 kilometres from Murska Sobota. Around it is a plain that has long offered good conditions for agriculture. The village also has two large Roma settlements: the first, called Pesek, by the nearby Zenkovski Potok stream, and the second, Erjavi Breg, in the south-eastern part of the village. The villagers have long been involved in farming, pasturing and viticulture. For the most part they have grown hybrid vines. The village covers a territory of 422 hectares, including 221 hectares of arable land, 67 hectares of meadow and 77 hectares of forest. There are currently 98 households in the village with a population of around 400. The village has three establishments serving food and drink, a dressmaker's and a hairdressing salon. Zenkovci also has a Roma community who in recent decades have greatly changed their habits and mentality. Many Roma have gone abroad to Austria and Germany to seek a better living. With the money they have earned, they have built themselves modern houses, bought cars and generally adopted a modern lifestyle.
