The village with a lumpy and flat landscape lies on the southern slope of a small hill. Its patron is St Luke, celebrating in October. The villagers take pride in their fire station, in which everyone trains to become a volunteer fire fighter. It also has plenty of magnificently preserved old houses, arches and wells. Among these, stands out the Karst house of Ciril Zlobec, renovated in the old style, with a terrace, old objects, a stone table and a well in the courtyard. Nearby is the Draga cave, with an underground
stream and fascinating stalactites, but is accessible only to experienced speleologists.
Here, in 1925 the poet, translator and publicist Ciril Zlobec was born. The most famous collection of poems is Pesmi štirih (Poems of the four, completed together with Janez Menart, Kajetan Kovič and Tone Pavček). He received several awards, not only for his work and poetry, but also for his cultural achievements (the Star of Italian Solidarity, “zlatnik poezije” for his contribution to Slovene literature …).
