The village of Otlica was named after the window - a hole which opens an amazing view of the Vipava Valley. It is an opening in the Jurassic coral limestone. A new fossil of a spogne was discovered in Otlica and it was named Hudsonella otlicensis, after the place of it's discovery. Another important fossil was discoverd near Kovk.
