The little village of
Soča, which takes its name from the alpine beauty, the
Soča River, is located half way between
Bovec and
Trenta.
The almost one kilometre long village is nestled beneath the slope of
Bavški Grintovec.
The once very famous climatic health resort has changed greatly in the last decades, as stationary tourists have been replaced by daily guests.
With the development of
kayaking, fishing, and hiking, more and more lovers of these kinds of recreational sports have also been coming to the village.
The
Church of St. Joseph (Sv. Jožef) with its interesting paintings, the
military cemetery from WWI, and the
great gorge of the Soča River are also worth visiting in the village.
