Kazlje is sparsely inhabited village with separated groups of houses and a church of St Lovrenc from 1634, which is partly covered with škrle. In 1873 the church housed the village school. Above the hamlet Jeriše on the “sveti Meh” is a minor prehistoric ancient fort with ruins of the church of St Mihael where were found earthenware, bronze and iron tools, jewellery, amber berries, roman glass vessels etc… On the top is a rock under which the girl Nežika of Kazlje supposedly hided herself from a Jew that wanted to sacrifice her to the gods. On the Vahta hill are the remains of another ancient fort where supposedly a treasure is hidden – a gold calf. In the village surroundings are a few abandoned javes with dark Karst limestone.
