Those who had been in Klanec know why the village bears this name
(klanec means rising or falling road), because the road literary falls down
to the village. Klanec was deeply affected by the horrors of the First World
War. The villagers became refugees and their houses were rather damaged because of the vicinity of the Soška front. In the Second World War
Klanec was an important village because various organizations of NOB
had theirs headquarters here.
Although the village is small, it has a nicely arranged village’s centre whe-
re you can see a pil and a monument from the First World War, dedicated
to Hungarian soldiers.
