Dobrnič is the largest locality in the valley Dobrniška dolina, which is famous for numerous karst caves, sinkholes and uvalas besides the plain Dobrniško polje. The basin is surrounded by the hills: Trebni vrh, Gorenji vrh, Ostri vrh and Lisec. In the plain area there are fertile field in the sunny positions of Lisec and Šmaver. There are vineyards, and the surrounding hills are mainly covered with wood. The Halstat mounds at Dobrnič, Reva and Dobrava testify to the early settlement in this area. In Dobrnič several examples of  typical rural architecture have been preserved. The rounded Square in the old centre of Dobrnič is surrounded by some older houses.
