Nature parks are areas where nature conservation is at its highest, and cover over 10% of Slovenia’s land. The parks offer something extra for visitors to the country. They offer peace, relaxation, the experience of unspoilt nature and countless nature-related pastimes. Slovenia offers an exceptional mosaic of biodiversity and landscape diversity in a relatively small area. There are almost 50 nature parks where this can be observed. Triglav National Park is the only national park; alongside three regional parks, there are almost 45 landscape parks.

Invitation to the parks
You will be warmly welcome to Slovenia’s nature parks provided that:
- you understand that this is the habitat of endangered plants and animals, and an environment in which Slovenia’s natural wealth and cultural heritage is being safeguarded
- you show your respect for the plants growing in the park and the animals living there, and also for nature in non-living form (stones, rocks, fossils, etc.)
- you enjoy the quiet, you can admire the beauty with your eyes or your camera, and you can abandon yourself to the alluring perfume of the plant world
- you love experiencing the unique natural environment of a protected area by foot or by bike on marked trails
- you do not remove plants, because you are aware that they are endangered, and are most beautiful when seen in the wild
- you respect the work and endeavours of the locals living in or near the park
- you leave motor vehicles in the dedicated parking areas outside the entrance to the park or in the park, and drive slowly past any pedestrians and bikers in so doing
- you keep dogs on a lead to prevent them from disturbing birds, fellow visitors or any other plant or animal life
- you keep the park clean, taking all refuse back home with you or to the nearest refuse container
