The hill and mountain areas of Slovenia are ideal for mountain biking. Throughout Slovenia's low mountain areas you will find
cart tracks and
macadam roads on which you are in constant contact with nature. Mountain bikers are in principle not permitted on forest paths and mountain hiking trails, but some forests have narrow trails specially for cyclists. In some places you have to hire a local guide if you want to use these 'single-track' trails, but in any case you must always be very careful to do as little damage as possible to natural paths and the surrounding vegetation.

One unique mountain biking experience in Slovenia is a ride through the abandoned mine shafts below Mount Peca in the Koroška region.
