Print Add to travel planner
The tree is an ancient symbol of life. In Koroška, adjacent to many old farms, century old lime (lipa) trees stand which are the pride of these homesteads and a very visible adornment to the countryside. In the municipality of Dravograd there are about 40, century old trees, that are protected as dendrological natural monuments. The 'queen' of the Dravograd lime trees is 'Urkova lipa' at 98 Tolsti vrh, with a diameter of 880 cm and height of 31 metres. At Črneče near the Črneče castle stands the largest ash tree in Slovenia, with a diameter of 520 cm and height of 21 metres. Two lime trees at Pajenk's at Vič are the pride of the village, the first with a diameter of 393 cm and height of 28 meters, and the other with a diameter of 590 cm and height of  35 meters.
