“The republic of Škofi” is the smallest village in the community of Komen. It is situated on a small rising by the local road Kregolišče – Brje. The Štrekelj family, who immigrate from Gorjansko, was very important for the entire village. The entrance of their home is adorned with a magnificent “kaluna” (arch). Due to the village’s good geographical position numerous partisan units stayed there during the Second World War. On the house
number 4 is a memorial symbol, which was placed there in the memory of a partisan unit, detachment of marines. At he end of the village is also a monument dedicated to three partisans that were killed in the war.
