The sea between Piran and Strunjan offers an extraordinary variety of marine plant and animal life. Other interesting sights, to which diving guides will accompany you, include the wrecks of several cargo vessels and warships sunk during the Second World War and in other conflicts. Diving courses are available in several coastal towns and in swimming pool complexes around Slovenia. Diving is also possible in Slovenia's rivers and lakes, some of which are actually karst springs with sumps that have yet to be fully explored. The popular Divje Jezero ('Wild Lake') near Idrija deserves a particular mention.
