The Petelin – Durcik tourist farm is on the Karst wine road, close to the church on the outskirts of the village of Pliskovica, among vineyards and fields with gorgeous views across the village to Štanjel, Komen and Kobjeglava.

The farm, which is part of the integrated production of grapes and wine, offers its guests various delicacies of the Karst region, such as prosciutto, štruklji, jota and gnocchi. Vegetarians are also catered for. As good food should always be accompanied by a drop of good wine, the farm will be happy to serve various local wine specialities, including teran, malvazija, vitovska grganja and teran liqueur, beverages that may also be purchased on the farm.

The hosts like to point out that they stay true to local customs and traditions. They will outline local history and lead you along the Pliska educational trail. Lovers of a good drop will surely not turn down an offer to visit the wine cellar which affords a chance to sample the produce. The farm is an excellent starting point for a visit to Štanjel or Sežana. A visit to Lipica may include a look at the famous Lipizzaner horses and riding school. The caves at Škocjan and Vilenica, which claims to be the oldest tourist cave in Slovenia, afford a chance to explore the characteristics of the Karst world. In addition, cycle hire is available on the farm, from where you may ride out to such places as Trstelj or Tomaj, where you can have a look around the house where Slovenian poet Srečko Kosovel was born, as well as Štanjel and others.
