Sveti Martin is a small hamlet lying in the hilly landscape in the middle of the Vipava Valley. The favourable microclimate there enables the production of the best quality wines and therefore the winegrowing tradition has been a pleasure to many generations. The harmony of colours, aromas and flavours unites with the wonderful nature and with the astonishing view of the Italian Dolomites, the Karst and the Vipava Valley all the way to the Mt. Nanos.

The higher-lying grounds and marl soil are unique features of these vineyards and create excellent conditions for fine wine. The vineyards are carefully cultivated and they take care that each vine never produces more than 1 kg of grapes.

A lot of work needs to be done before wine is produced and during this process the Stegovec family always stays in touch with nature. It is very important of what kind of timber the barrels are made of, as it is the wood that enables wine to express its nobleness. Indigenous wines, namely Zelen, Pinela and Klarnica, as well as Ribolla and Pinot Blanc mature in acacia barrels, while Barbera and Merlot in oak barrels. Moreover, all the wines the Stegovec Wine Cellar has, including Rose, mature in wooden barrels.

The whole-year hard work of the entire family is rewarded with the company of their friends. A satisfied guest is very important for them, as he gives them a feeling of joy and happiness that they had done something good. Their wine cellar is a great place to enjoy the company. Meanwhile you can taste their wines and try some of their home-made specialities. Wine tasting certainly does not only mean sampling various wines but also enjoying in the company of people and exchanging opinions about wine producing and wine drinking.

The Stegovec family is very proud of their daughter, Martina Stegovec, who was in 2000 the Slovenian Wine Queen. The fact that she won the Wine Queen competition also means that the Stegovec wines really are worth trying.
