The Wine Road first takes you from the village of Plave to Vrhovlje near Kojsko, where there is a wonderful view over the Brda region, a vista of hills, churches, countless vineyards, and orchards of cherries, peaches, apricots, and figs. After ascending to the viewpoint in the village of Gonjače, the route leads to Šmartno, which is surrounded by a wall with seven watchtowers. Through Zali Breg, the next stop is Dobrovo Castle with its knight’s-hall, gallery of graphics by Zoran Mušič, and the restaurant and the Vinoteka Brda wine bar in the castle cellar. The route continues to artistic Medana, where typical local dishes are served at the Belica Tourist Farm, and in Vipolže there is another castle and a cypress park to visit. In Dolnje Cerovo stands the Church of Sv. Lenart, which has a picturesque staircase girded with a chain. The route then runs along the Italian border through Hum and Podsabotin and across the famous Solkan Bridge to Solkan, where the Wine Road ends.
