Sabotin Peace Park - Cookbook

Print Add to travel planner
The Soča Valley, the Karst and the area along the lower reaches of Piave River and its hinterland represented a world in miniature during the three and a half year long war (May 1915 – November 1918). The local population, soldiers and prisoners belonged to more than two dozen different nationalities and cultures.
This diverse mass of people came from different cultures and traditions, predominantly European. Accordingly, they also had different gastronomic customs. In memory of the local residents, soldiers and prisoners of war who suffered great deprivation in the Soča region or as refugees, we have selected recipes for this cookbook from nations whose members were involved in the battles along the Isonzo Front.

The book is a collection of recipes for typical dishes of the following nationalities: Albanians, Americans, Austrians, Bosnians, Britons, Croatians, Czechs, French, Germans, Greeks, Hungarians, Italians, Jews, Poles, Roma, Romanians, Russians, Slovaks, Slovenes, Serbs, and Ukrainians.
