More than 600 hectares of forest spread over the northern hills of Goričko, and through them meanders the 140-kilometer Goričko Wine Road that links Goričko’s winegrowers, tourist farms, wine shops, and gostilnas. Goričko is the region where the grapes for Laški Rizling, Chardonnay, Beli Pinot, Renski Rizling, Kerner, Sauvignon, Šipon, Sivi Pinot, and Zeleni Silvanec wines grow best. On the way, cool yourself at natural springs, visit thatched houses, storks, masters of black ceramics, water mills, and ethnological exhibitions, and enjoy traditional events organized by local cultural and tourist associations. Try “bograč” goulash, pork and sausages with “bujta repa,” “posolanke,” “retaše,” and other culinary specialties of this exceptional and remote region of Slovenia.
