The
Church of St Peter at the top of the hill called Gora above the village of
Begunje is a popular destination for short hikes. This short but rather steep ascent rewards the hiker with unforgettable views of Radol'ca, Bled and Mt Triglav.
Wonderful frescoes painted by Jernej of Loka can be admired in the church and there is an archaeological site in the cave nearby, which is believed to posses healing powers. In the immediate vicinity of the church are a viewpoint and a take-off point for paragliders. The trail goes on to the Sankaška Hut, where you can treat yourself to a refreshing drink or a local snack.
The starting point is the car park across the road from the
Pri Jožovcu Restaurant in Begunje, from where you should follow the waymarkers.
The Church of St Peter can also be accessed from the settlement of Krpin: from the parking area, pass the playgrounds and start ascending along the path on the edge of the forest. The tour may be made circular by ascending one trail and descending the other.
